Responsible Gambling

At Tonkawa Enterprises, we promote responsible gambling, prioritizing gambling for fun and entertainment’s sake. Gambling can become problematic when it causes disruptions to any significant area of life, whether it be psychological, physical, social, or vocational. Knowing the signs of problem gambling can help prevent problem gambling behaviors from developing in the first place and open the door for help.

What Does Responsible Gambling Mean?

Also known as safer gambling, it refers to gambling in a way that minimizes any adverse effects it can have on the individual, which starts with recognizing risks associated with problem gambling and promoting safe practices.

The National Council on Problem Gambling lists the following as signs of problem gambling:

  • Often, gambling until your last dollar is gone
  • Losing sleep due to thoughts of gambling
  • Using your income or savings to gamble while letting bills go unpaid
  • Making repeated, unsuccessful attempts to stop gambling
  • Breaking the law or considering breaking the law to finance a gambling habit
  • Borrowing money from friends, family, or others to fund a gambling habit
  • Feeling depressed or suicidal due to gambling losses
  • Being remorseful or feeling sadness after gambling
  • Gambling to get money to meet financial obligations
