Tonkawa Enterprises Moves to 4-Day Work Week, Benefiting Hourly Employees

TONKAWA, OKLA. – AUGUST 3, 2022 – Tonkawa Enterprises is moving its full-time, hourly employee work week to a four-day, 36-hour work week. Employees will now work four 9-hour days while continuing to be paid a full-time wage based on a 40-hour work week. This change will result in an additional 26 paid days a year. This plan is available at all of our Tonkawa Enterprises locations: Tonkawa Casino, Tonkawa Hotel, Native Lights Casino, Buffalo Grill & Lounge, Tonkawa Travel Plaza, Native Lights Casino Smoke Shop, and The Hub Entertainment Center.

The goal of this implementation is to boost employee morale and company loyalty, provide less work stresses, and create an environment where each employee sees improvements in job satisfaction and is able to maintain a more steady work-to-life balance. This plan will also help reduce various employee expenses, such as gas and childcare.

“We value our employees here at the Tonkawa Hotel and Casino, and we’re excited to provide them with the benefits of a shorter work week,” Phillip Glass, CEO of Tonkawa Enterprises, said. “We know that this new four-day schedule will provide our employees with more time with their family, leading to a more satisfying and productive work/life balance. Taking care of our employees ensures their dedication to Tonkawa and to our guests, and that is a vital part of our commitment to being the best entertainment experience in northern Oklahoma.”

The updated HR Plan will feature unique benefits for all current and incoming hourly employees. The extended three-day weekend each week adds up to an extra 52 days off annually.
